The Way of the Cross takes you to the sandstone chapel of the cross - an ideal place to picnic and relax. The Wißberg itself is an impressive elevation in Rheinhessen Switzerland and is considered one of the most beautiful vantage points in the region. Even in the Middle Ages, the Wißberg was an important religious site where pilgrimages took place - so the chapel has a long tradition. The Chapel of the Cross is particularly atmospheric at sunset, when the vineyards can be seen in golden light.

The 444 bus route between Wörrstadt and Wöllstein takes you to Gau-Bickelheim in comfort. You can also travel by train from Worms or Bingen and get off at Gau-Bickelheim station. From here you can walk through the vineyards directly to the Wißberg.
