From Thursday, February 19, 2026, the third construction phase will begin, which includes the section between the Weiherschleife and the Grimm retirement home. We give you an overview of the affected routes and detour.
Over a length of around 440 meters, both the road and the sidewalks
will be fundamentally upgraded. The construction work is expected to last until June 30, 2026
and will once again be carried out under full closure. This will necessitate a large-scale
detour of road traffic and adjustments to bus services. The
stops Oberstweiler, Weiherschleife, Autohaus Barth&Frey and Hettstein
will not be accessible during the construction period. Passengers traveling to or from Oberstweiler and
Weiherschleife are requested to change to line 830 from the stop
Mackenrodter Weg.
Detour routes for the affected lines:
Line 800: Idar-Oberstein - Trier
The buses on this line run from Idar Eltwerk via Vollmersbach and Veitsrodt to
Tiefenstein. On the detour route, the buses will stop at Idar-Festplatz, Salvea
Reha, Vollmersbach Tiefensteiner Straße, Veitsrodt Spitzgarten and Veitsrodt Markt
. In Tiefenstein, the buses will also stop at the Stadenhalle stop in addition to the Kirschweiler Straße stop
. Due to the detour, route 800 will arrive at
the Tiefenstein Stadenhalle stop around five minutes later, which will also
delay arrival in Trier by five minutes. In the opposite direction, buses will leave
Trier five minutes earlier and also take the detour route via Veitsrodt
with the aforementioned stops.
Line 804 Idar-Oberstein - Tiefenstein
During the construction work, line 804 will no longer run every hour, but every
90 minutes. The previous route will remain unchanged as far as the Idar Alexanderplatz stop
. From there, the route runs via Vollmersbach and Veitsrodt to
Tiefenstein. From the Bachweg stop, the buses will also stop at
Idarbachtalschule, Mühlschied, Leyser and Andreasstraße. The stops Beryllstraße,
Citrinstraße, Gh. Alte Scheune and Stadenhalle are no longer available.
Line 840: Idar-Oberstein - Wittlich + Line 845: Idar-Oberstein - Morbach
With the exception of the first and last
journeys of the day, lines 840 and 845 no longer begin and end at Idar-Oberstein station, but at the market square in
Idar. From Idar Marktplatz, the buses will travel via Vollmersbach and Veitsrodt to
Tiefenstein. The bus stops Vollmersbach Tiefensteiner Straße,
Veitsrodt Spitzgarten and Veitsrodt Markt will be used instead. In Tiefenstein, only the
Bachweg stop will be served. From Idar Marktplatz, passengers can continue on the
850/855 lines in the direction of Idar-Oberstein Bahnhof. From the train station,
passengers can best reach the buses on lines 840/845 by taking line 830 and changing at the
stop Idar Marktplatz or Idar Alexanderplatz.
