Since the introduction of the new public transport concept, the number of passengers in the network area has risen by more than 20 percent.
The large-scale expansion of bus services has paid off: with reliable half-hourly to two-hourly connections, significantly more journeys at weekends and in the evenings and better connections to the rail network, mobility in the region has been raised to a new level.
The Birkenfeld district kicked things off in August 2022, followed by the districts of Bad Kreuznach, Mainz-Bingen and the city of Bad Kreuznach in October 2022. A revised concept followed in the northern district of Alzey-Worms in summer 2024.
Since then, modern, comfortable buses have been in use throughout the entire network area - equipped with Wi-Fi, USB charging sockets and modern passenger information via sound and screens in the vehicles. This has not only significantly improved the service, but also the quality of bus transport in the RNN area.
With the introduction of the new bus networks, we have raised mobility in our region to a new level. The rising passenger numbers show that we are on the right track. The key to this success was the successful combination of the expansion of services and the attractively priced Deutschland-Ticket introduced in May 2023, emphasizes our Managing Director Silke Meyer.
This year's Greenpeace study on public transport quality in Germany also provides evidence of the high quality of local transport in the region. This highlights districts in our network area as the nationwide leaders - a direct result of the new bus concept.
Our vision remains clear: we want our passengers to be able to board easily, travel sustainably and arrive relaxed, says Silke Meyer.
