RNN and tourism regions examine introduction of a guest card

Hunsrück-Nahe Tourismus and Rheinhessen-Touristik are examining the introduction of regional guest contributions and a public transport guest ticket. The aim is to examine new sustainable financing and mobility models for tourism and to make the regions fit for the future.

RNN Managing Director Silke Meyer emphasizes: "As a mobility partner, we are involved in the planning at an early stage and support the process in the area of local public transport with our expertise. It is important to us to find a solution that consistently considers sustainable mobility for guests."

The project is a pilot project in Rhineland-Palatinate. The focus will be on a joint feasibility study in 2026, which will evaluate various model variants, economic viability and a realistic timetable.

Erwin Malkmus, Chairman of Rheinhessen-Touristik and Deputy Mayor of the district of Mainz-Bingen, emphasizes: "The feasibility study should show concrete economically viable model variants and a realistic timetable for implementation."

The Hunsrück-Nahe region also sees a joint approach as the key. Bettina Dickes, District Administrator and Chairwoman of Hunsrück-Nahe Tourismus GmbH, explains: "Isolated solutions won't get guests and tourism businesses very far. A joint solution makes sense here."

A concrete concept should be available by the end of 2026. Implementation could begin from 2027. Interested municipalities, tourism businesses and other potential partners can already contact Hunsrück-Nahe Tourismus GmbH, Rheinhessen-Touristik or RNN without obligation.
