Update:
From Monday, December 8, 2025, the construction site will be winterized. For this purpose, the surface course will be laid in the section from the parking lot at the Weiherschleife to the junction with Autohaus Barth & Frey / ASB. A temporary base course will be laid in the section of the sewer renewal. As a result, there may be temporary restrictions on access to the entire area.
According to current plans, Tiefensteiner Straße will be reopened to through traffic from Monday, December 15, 2025, for the duration of the winter break. Work will then continue in spring 2026, probably after Shrove Tuesday.
From Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the expansion work will begin on Tiefensteiner Straße between Weiherschleife and the Grimm retirement home. The road and sidewalks will be extended over a length of around 440 meters and the street lighting and supply systems for water, sewer, gas, electricity and telecommunications will be renewed or renovated. The first and second sections will be completed in 2025. The complete closure will be lifted during the winter of 2025/2026. The expansion of the third section will then take place from spring 2026 with a full road closure again. Due to the closure of the B422, a large-scale detour of road traffic, including public transport, is necessary. The Oberstweiler, Weiherschleife, Autohaus Barth&Frey and Hettstein stops cannot be served. Passengers to/from Oberstweiler and Weiherschleife are requested to use line 830 to/from Mackenrodter Weg.
During the Veitsrodter Markt from July 11 to 14, there will be further large-scale changes to the timetables.
The buses will be rerouted as follows:
Line 800: Idar-Oberstein - Trier
From Idar-Oberstein, route 800 will continue from Idar-Eltwerk via Vollmersbach and Veitsrodt to Tiefenstein.
On the detour route, the stops Idar-Festplatz Salvea Reha, Vollmersbach Tiefensteiner Straße, Veitsrodt Spitzgarten and Veitsrodt Markt will be served. In Tiefenstein, the Stadenhalle stop will also be served in addition to the regular Kirschweiler Straße stop.
Due to the detour, route 800 will arrive at the Tiefenstein Stadenhalle stop around 5 minutes later and will therefore also arrive in Trier 5 minutes later. In the opposite direction, the departure from Trier is 5 minutes earlier, also with the detour via Veitsrodt and the same stops.
Connections: In Vollmersbach or Veitsrodt it is possible to change to the buses on route 850/855 in the direction of Rhaunen. At the Idar Festplatz Salvea Reha stop, you can change to line 802 to Idar-Marktplatz/Alexanderplatz. You can also change at Erbeskopf to line 890 in the direction of Allenbach, Kempfeld and Schauren.
Line 804 Idar-Oberstein - Tiefenstein
Line 804 will run every 90 minutes instead of every hour as before. The route to Idar Alexanderplatz remains unchanged.
From there, the buses will travel via Vollmersbach and Veitsrodt to Tiefenstein. From the Bachweg stop, the Idarbachtalschule, Mühlschied, Leyer and Andreasstraße stops will be served. All stops to Tiefenstein, Andreasstraße are served. The stops Beryllstraße, Citrinstraße, Gh. Alte Scheune and Stadenhalle will not be served.
Line 840: Idar-Oberstein - Wittlich
Line 845: Idar-Oberstein - Morbach
Lines 840 and 845 start and end in Idar Marktplatz - with the exception of the first and last journeys of the day, which continue to run through to Idar-Oberstein station.
The section between Idar-Oberstein station and Idar Marktplatz will be omitted. From Idar Marktplatz, buses will travel via Vollmersbach and Veitsrodt to Tiefenstein. The bus stops Vollmersbach Tiefensteiner Straße, Veitsrodt Spitzgarten and Veitsrodt Markt will be served as substitutes. In Tiefenstein, only the Bachweg stop will be served.
In Idar Marktplatz, the 850/855 lines continue in the direction of Idar-Oberstein Bahnhof.
From Idar-Oberstein station, the best way to reach the buses on lines 840/845 is to take line 830.
Further changes in detail:
- Journey 845-101 departs Idar-Oberstein station 3 minutes earlier on Mondays to Fridays, i.e. at 5:27 instead of 5:30.
- Journey 845-106 departs Morbach at the ZOB 8 minutes earlier from Monday to Friday, i.e. at 6:30 instead of 6:38.
