From Monday, 23.3. to Monday, 13.4.2026, there will be changes to the streetcar lines on various sections. This is due to the connection of the overhead lines of the new streetcar route through Binger Straße at Alicenplatz and Münsterplatz. This marks a decisive milestone.
With the connection of the overhead lines to the existing streetcar network, the new section of line is technically and functionally connected to the Mainz streetcar network for the first time.
For this work on the new streetcar line through Binger Straße, the streetcars will have to be replaced by buses on the nights of 23/24 March, 7/8 April and 8/9 April between "Mainz, Hauptbahnhof" and Hechtsheim and from 4 a.m. on 23 March to 4 a.m. on 13 April between Hauptbahnhof and Lerchenberg.
Night 23.3./24.3., approx. 0 a.m. to approx. 5 a.m., line 50 affected:
Reason: installation of two catenary masts in the Münsterplatz area
Streetcar line 50 only runs from Finthen to the main station and back (instead of to Hechtsheim).
Replacement buses are in operation between Hechtsheim / Bürgerhaus and the main station.
30.3., 4 a.m., until 13.4., 4 a.m., affected lines 50, 51, 52, 53 and 59:
Reason: Connection of the overhead lines in the Alicenplatz area & track renovation at stops K and L at the main station
Lines 50, 51 and 53:
Line 50 runs twice as frequently between Hechtsheim and the main station - as a replacement for the discontinued line 53.
Some of the journeys on line 50 coming from Hechtsheim end at the main station and from there continue as line 51 to Finthen and Poststraße.
In the direction of Hechtsheim, however, the streetcars are signposted as line 50 (instead of 51) from the Poststraße stop.
Streetcar line 53 is no longer available. As a replacement, please use the more frequent line 50 or the SEV from/to Lerchenberg.
Line 52:
The streetcars only run from Hechtsheim to the main station and from Monday to Friday during the day - as a replacement for the discontinued line 59 - from/to Zollhafen.
Line 59:
Streetcar line 59 is canceled. As a replacement, the rerouted streetcar line 52 will run between the main station and Zollhafen.
SEV:
Replacement buses are in operation between Lerchenberg / Hindemithstraße. These are all marked as line 53.
Nights 7.4./8.4. & 8.4./9.4., in each case approx. 8 p.m. to approx. 4 a.m. Lines 50, 51, 52 and 53 affected:

In addition to the SEV to Lerchenberg, the following additional changes will apply on the nights of Tuesday, April 7 to Wednesday, April 8, and Wednesday, April 8 to Thursday, April 9, in each case from approx. 8 pm to approx. 4 am:
The streetcars on lines 50 and 51 will only run from Finthen to the main station (and back).
The existing SEV lines 52 (from Bretzenheim) and 53 (from Lerchenberg) will run beyond the main station to Hechtsheim (and back).
