Taking Public Transportation to the Mainz State Theater

Good news for all theatergoers: The Rhein-Nahe Regional Transit Authority (RNN), Mainzer Mobilität, and the Mainz State Theater are continuing their successful partnership. The tried-and-true KombiTicket will remain available for the 2026/27 and 2027/28 seasons. As of August 1, 2026, it will continue to be valid for all events at the Mainz State Theater.

With the KombiTicket, travel to and from the theater is already included in the ticket price. On the day of the event, the admission ticket also entitles the holder to round-trip travel on all buses, trams, and commuter trains in second class throughout the entire RNN network area, as well as within the cities of Mainz and Wiesbaden.

“The KombiTicket combines cultural enjoyment with a simple and convenient transportation option. The admission ticket also serves as a transit pass—simple and at no additional cost. We are very pleased to be extending this proven service in collaboration with Mainzer Mobilität and the State Theater,” said Silke Meyer, Managing Director of the RNN.

Florian Wiesemann, Managing Director of Mainzer Mobilität, adds: “The Mainz State Theater is an important cultural attraction for the city and the region. With the KombiTicket, we enable visitors to travel to and from the theater stress-free via public transit while also contributing to a livable city center with reduced traffic.”

“A vibrant cultural scene also depends on being easily accessible. Through this partnership, we have worked together with the RNN and Mainzer Mobilität to create a model our audience can rely on. It improves accessibility and is also sustainable—both of which are very important to us,” says Markus Müller, Artistic Director and Managing Director of the Mainz State Theater.

The extension of this service makes it easier to attend the theater and makes switching to public transit particularly attractive. Visitors can plan their trip with ease and travel directly from anywhere in the RNN service area to downtown Mainz. The “Höfchen” stop is located right next to the Mainz State Theater.

The KombiTicket has established itself as a convenient service for theatergoers. With this contract extension, the RNN, Mainzer Mobilität, and the Mainz State Theater will continue this successful program for the next two seasons, jointly contributing to environmentally friendly and stress-free travel.
