The Zweckverband Rhein-Nahe Nahverkehrsverbund (ZRNN) has appointed Silke Meyer for another five years as managing director of Rhein-Nahe Nahverkehrsverbund GmbH (RNN) and the ZRNN. She will thus continue in her role, which she has held since December 2019, at the helm of the transit association for the Rheinhessen and Nahe regions.
Steffen Wolf, head of the ZRNN and chair of the RNN shareholders’ meeting, welcomes the decision by the association’s general assembly and the supervisory board: “With this reappointment, we are committed to continuity and reliability at the helm of RNN. Together with the funding authorities and partners, Silke Meyer has not only initiated important changes but also brought them to fruition with great dedication. We look forward to five more years of working together on the future of our transit authority.”
Silke Meyer’s tenure to date has seen important developments for public transit in the region. For example, in 2022, the new public transit concepts were implemented with significantly expanded service, leading to a 20% increase in ridership. The fare reform for season passes, which recently took effect on August 1, 2026, was also prepared and implemented under her leadership.
“I am very pleased about the trust placed in me and look forward to continuing to drive the development of the RNN forward together with our partners. We have already set important milestones in recent years, both in expanding our service offerings and in simplifying our fare structure. We intend to consistently continue on this path,” says Silke Meyer.
The next major task is to further simplify the fare structure for occasional travel. This will not focus solely on structural changes, but above all on making the use of public transit easier and more understandable for customers. “It’s important to me that we bring people along with us through these changes and keep their needs in mind. This applies to the further development of the fare structure as well as to improving our transit services and expanding digital offerings. Our goal is an RNN that is easier to understand and, at the same time, better tailored to the actual needs of our passengers,” said Meyer.
